International students often face great challenges in pursuit of English language training in Canada. Language barriers and homesickness can interfere with the learning process and make the experience unpleasant. Therefore, support mechanisms need to be in place so students can pursue their education with as little stress as possible. Luckily, Vancouver's international student community has the Vancouver Student Information Center (VSIC).

The center's wide range of services includes homestay placement and student advising. VSIC also recruits ESL teachers for job placement in Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
